December 2018 Memory Verse
“And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.”
Read I John chapters 4 & 5 in December
This verse reminds us of the first coming of Jesus Christ and His purpose in coming. The world is lost in sin and Satan is doing everything he can to keep it that way. But God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son to be the Savior of all those who believe in Jesus Christ. As we enter the season of Christmas, we are so often reminded of God's great love of mankind. In the innocence of a baby boy born so long ago in such a humble and solemn place called Bethlehem (which means “House of Bread”), Jesus would grow up to identify Himself as the “Bread of Life” (John 6:35) . He would then show in daily living how that He cared so much for others and at one point (the feeding of the 5000 Matthew 14:13-21), He used only 2 fish and 5 small loaves of bread to sustain life (a miracle meal and yet, His very life was a miracle). Jesus was born of a virgin and He was called the “Son of the Highest” (Luke 1:26-38) .
The great need of mankind was not a politician, not a military general, not another wiseman, not a counselor, but a Savior, and Jesus came to save them from their sinful condition and give them a righteous standing with the God of the universe (II Corinthians 5:21). We are told to believe that the Father sent the Son as the Savior of he world. Do you believe? Have you by faith received Christ as your Savior? If not, why not now? If you have, rejoice with me – A Savior is Born!” A Savior is Born!
